The Campus Consortium for Decarbonization (CCD) is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting decarbonization and sustainability in New Jersey institutions of higher education. By bringing together senior facilities and infrastructure personnel from colleges and universities across the State, the Consortium provides a network and platform for exchanging ideas, best practices, and innovative strategies to accelerate decarbonization across campuses. Consortium activities focus in three key areas.

Convene
The Consortium convenes regular meetings (in-person and/or virtual) to review and discuss current decarbonization topics of interest. A typical meeting includes one or more expert presentations, followed by lively discussions among the participants on how to apply the information presented to their own campuses.

Connect
The Consortium maintains CCD Connect: a members-only discussion forum designed to help campus energy personnel seek guidance from each other on key issues and potentially collaborate to solve mutual problems.

Educate
CCD also maintains a robust, curated online collection of training materials, publications, webinars, videos and other educational resources relevant to the decarbonization of college and university campuses.

The benefits of decarbonization extend far beyond reducing carbon emissions. By embracing sustainable practices, educational institutions can enhance their reputation by creating an environment for sustainability science, attract environmentally conscious students and faculty, and contribute to a more sustainable future. The Campus Consortium for Decarbonization offers a platform for higher education institutions in New Jersey to accelerate meaningful change in the fight against climate change.
