Ground Source Heat Pumps and Air to Water Heat Pumps
Energy Efficiency Stakeholder Meeting Presentation
Presentation
Course Description
This presentation introduces heat pump Carnot efficiency and discusses air to water heat pumps, water source heat pumps, and open and closed loop ground source heat pumps. Recorded April 18, 2024.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the Carnot cycle and Carnot efficiencies of air conditioners and heat pumps.
- Compare Air to Water, Water Source, and Ground Source Heat Pumps.
- Explain what the reversing valve does in a heat pump.
- Define coefficient of performance (COP).
- Describe two ground coupled loop options.
